You want some encouragement?  Carry a sketch book wherever you go and sketch, sketch, sketch.  Draw everything you can think of.  Learn to look at things, and draw what you see, not what you think you see.  Don't worry about finishing every sketch -- just go until you have captured the basic idea.  Think about pictures.  Draw both from life (sketching people and things) as well as from your imagination.
Just keep doing it.  Practice is the best teacher!
